What is interesting is that both the sides have lost momentum in the tournament
after starting off well.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore had been chasing a tough target from the Kochi
Tuskers but they fought really well to win their first game of the tournament.
However, post that, the form has just petered away.
They lost to the Mumbai Indians thanks to the way in which the Mumbai side chased
down the target. Then, they went down to the Deccan Chargers away from home, failing
to chase down a biggish total before, in their last game, the Chargers had had
problems in chasing down the target set by the Chennai Super Kings. They lost
that game as well.
On the other hand, the Rajasthan Royals started off with two wins and one thought
that the combination was getting back their touch from the first season of the
Indian Premier League. They had beaten the Delhi Daredevils and the Deccan Chargers
in the first couple of games.
However, once that happened, the side seems to have run into some rut, as they
were beaten by the Kolkata Knight Riders on two successive occasions. Gautam Gambhir
seems to have led the side well in both the cases, getting to unbeaten knocks
in both.
The two teams will now need to do a lot more than what they have been doing, which
arises the possibility of a quality cricket game that could go down to the wire.
This will mean that Rajasthan Royals, for one, will need to get their batting
order right. They have been fiddling far too often with it and once they can get
going with it, life could get easier.
Similarly, the Royal Challengers Bangalore need to look at their bowling closely.
They have Zaheer Khan, who looks out of form, they have Dirk Nannes
who may not play due to an injury and then Vettori himself is having severe
groin and back issues.
How Bangalore overturn this will be a million-dollar question but their batting
has the ability to do so.
