Australia will play Bangladesh in the second game for both the sides of the ICC World T20 group stage. The match will be played at Bridgetown in Barbados
instead of the St. Lucia where the two sides played their first game and that
will mean that the spinners will have their say in the game. Pakistan had beaten
Bangladesh in the first game of the tournament.
Click for Live Score Card of Australia Vs BangladeshAustralia will go into the game knowing well that the side needs to perform
much better than they have in the tournament so far. The problem that the Australia
are facing is to do with the fact that the bowling is based on a quick-pace
attack, whereas the pitches in West Indies are siding anything but that. We
have seen so far, that the tracks have either supported spin bowling or are
rather easy to bat on, and that has meant that the Aussies have had to struggle
to get going with either the bat or the ball.
The problem with the bat is related to the fact that apart from a handful of
batsmen, like a Dave Warner, not too many others featured in the IPL
for a sufficiently long period of time. In the IPL, the tracks were slower and
lower and made it difficult to bat on, and Warner had gone on to score a century.
However, with not a lot of support at the other end, it was only natural that
the Aussies lost their warm-up game against Zimbabwe.
The other problem is with the form of their captain. If one looks at his averages
in this format of the game, they seem perfectly alright, but the problem is
with his strike rate. Occupying the important number three or four position,
it was natural that the side needs quick runs from him, but that has so far
been missing.
From the Bangladesh's perspective, there is not too much doubt that they will
like these spin-friendly conditions more than the ones at St. Lucia. This will
mean that they will look to unleash their five-prong spin attack and may even
open the bowling with spin. It was a surprise that Mahmudullah did not bowl
in the previous game, and one can be rest assured that against the left-handed
batsmen, he will be given a chance.
It was refreshing to watch Mohammad Ashraful bat, but not so refreshing
to see him get out in the way he did. He needs to take charge and bat through
the innings and he will get the runs his side needs.
