India will be hoping to take a giant step with a second consecutive victory
over Australia this Sunday at the Adelaide this Sunday. India
are second in the standings and with Sri Lanka seemingly out of sorts, this
represents a great opportunity for the Indian ODI to cement their places
in the finals of the CB Series.

India have been in inspired form in Australia this season and despite going
through some pretty rough weather conditions and some rank bad umpiring decisions,
the Indian team have put up an even fight for the World Champions in the backyard.
The emergence of Delhi speedster Ishant Sharma has given a real boost to the
Indian bowling attack strengthened by the arrival of Sreesanth and while the
top orders still remains unconvincing, the resolve of Dhoni and Rohit Sharma
down the order has out gloss to this evenly balanced Indian team. The past one
week in the build up to this match has been mixed for India. After trashing
Australia with an emphatic performance in Melbourne, they fell on the wrong
side of the Duckworth Lewis rule as a much simpler target was handed
down to Sri Lanka following the intervention of rain. Yuvraj Singh has been
out of sorts all series and the evenly paced Adelaide track should give the
enigmatic southpaw reason to believe when the Australians take the field.
Australia recovered well from the shattering loss to India a week earlier with
a spirited performance against Sri Lanka in their last outing. Adam
Gilchrist was amongst the runs as Australia piled on the pressure against
Sri Lanka with a fine batting display. However, their middle order has been
woefully short of runs all summer and Captain Ricky Pointing will be
hoping for a much better batting performance by his troops against impressive
Indian bowling artillery. The introduction of James Hopes did the trick for
the Australians in the previous match against Sri Lanka and Ricky Pointing is
expected to persist with the all rounder ahead of wicketkeeper in waiting Brad
Haddin. Michael Hussey's place will be under scrutiny for this clash as the
Perth all rounder has been rather dim all season while Michael Clarke will be
looking to continue from where he left in the previous match when he scored
s sparkling forty three to take the Australians to a respectable score against
Sri Lanka. Australia have never lost back to back home games against India in
their cricketing history and will be hoping to avoid that when they host the
men in blue this coming Sunday 17th February 2008 at the Gabba.
