Bangladesh go into their first of their three one day matches
with South Africa looking to pick up the bits and pieces of what has
been a miserable past four months for the Asian tigers. After being outplayed
by New Zealand down under, more misery was heaped upon the Bangladeshis by a
rampant South African team last time around and the Asian tigers will be anxious
to get a win under their belt this time around.

Since taking over the captaincy of Bangladesh in June,
Mohammad Ashraful is yet to taste success in the shorter version of the game
in six matches so far. Bangladesh has struggled in all their matches against
new Zealand and South Africa away and captain Ahsraful is going back to basics
this time around against South Africa. Spin has always been the favoured form
of attack for the Bangladeshis and captain Ashraful has decided to operate on
a three pronged attack of Mosharraf Hossain. Abdur Razzak and Shakib Al Hasan
for this clash against a new look South African line up. Bangladesh had tremendous
success against South Africa last time around in the World Cup bundling them
cheaply to secure a fine 64 run victory and they will be eying a similar result
this time around too.
South Africa have decided to experiment with a new look outfit
for this series with the likes of Makhaya Ntini, Jacques Kallis and Mark
Boucher rested for this series. However, there will be no shortage of incentive
for the South Africans as victory here will propel them into the summit of the
ICC ODI rankings. Test specialists Hasim Amla and Paul Harris
have been called into the side for this clash and much will be expected from
this new look South African team in this rather easy fixture against Bangladesh
this coming Sunday 9th of March 2008 in Chittagong.
