Bangalore have been in good form, having won three consecutive matches. They
won in emphatic style against Rajasthan Royals on Monday, a 46-run win powered
by strong performances from Tillakaratne Dilshan, AB de Villiers and
KP Apanna. Dilshan scored 76 runs while de Villiers blazed his way to 59 off
just 23 balls in a match where Chris Gayle failed. Apanna was the star with
the ball with four economical wickets. The team has so many match-winners that
Muttiah Muralitharan is having to sit out, though he picked up three
wickets against Chennai in their earlier meeting.
Chennai Super Kings have also been gathering momentum with two wins. Their
last win was also against Rajasthan Royals, but a hard-fought won as they won
yet another match off the final ball. Faf du Plessis has been scoring runs freely
and will be critical to their success up the order. He also scored a half-century
in the two teams' last match. Nuwan Kulasekara will look to carry his impressive
form further while Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni provide further match-winning
players. Doug Bollinger did well against Bangalore last time and could be tipped
for another stellar performance on Wednesday. With the ball, Ravi Ashwin and
Shadab Jakati could come in useful if the pitch has any assistance for the slow
bowlers.
The match will start at 8.00pm in Bangalore.
