The Royal Challengers Bangalore will face the Deccan Chargers in the 40th game of the IPL at Bangalore. The Bangalore side has five wins in the
tournament so far, whereas Deccan have only three. In fact, from now, Deccan Chargers
will need to win all their games to be able to have any chances of staying back
in the tournament, whereas the Royal Challengers need only a couple of wins from
their remaining games to ensure a semi-finals berth.
Click for Live Score Card of Bangalore Royal Challengers Vs Hyderabad Deccan ChargersThe Bangalore side will know that despite been in a really strong position
in terms of the points table, they seem to have lost their momentum. This has
led to some successive defeats for them, including a rather lop-sided one against
the Delhi team at Feroz Shah Kotla.
One gets the sense that they had made a mistake in changing their order so
drastically in the Delhi game. resting of Dale Steyn and getting in an
extra batsman meant that the line-up saw the batting till number eight, but
unfortunately, the bowlers could not do the job.
The Bangalore team would be advised to bring back Steyn, and in all probabilities,
allow Cameron White a break or two given that he hasn't had a great two
or three games so far. This will also allow Steyn to bowl on a track which has,
through the duration of the tournament, allowed the bowlers much help.
From the batting perspective, there cannot be too much doubt that the side
is packed with them; Rahul Dravid's barely getting the opportunities, and he
could be seen batting up the order.
For the Chargers, a lot of things need to change including their attitude.
After those three successive wins, the Chargers seem to have gone back to that
mode in 2008 where they simply could not win despite possessing a line-up which
consisted of Gilchrist, Gibbs and Symonds, and not to forget Rohit Sharma.
In the game against the Rajasthan Royals, the Chargers bowling was something
that clicked well together, but it was their batting that fell away without
too much ado. Except Rohit Sharma, none of the other batsmen made any
contributions, and that meant that the Chargers lost a game that they should
have won 99 times out of 100. A lot will now depend on how Gilly is able to
motivate his side for this game, as the side needs to win almost everything
and will be taking on Bangalore on their own home ground.
