Bangladesh will be hoping to wrap up the three match series against
Ireland with a comprehensive victory in the third One Dayer at
Mirpur this coming Saturday 22nd of March 2008. Bangladesh have an unassailable
2-0 lead in this series and with Ireland falling apart in their first series
in the subcontinent, a victory seems likely on paper for the Bangla tigers.

A five-wicket haul by the right-arm medium pacer Farhad Reza, shot out Ireland
for 162 as Bangladesh claimed an 84-run victory in the second one-dayer at Mirpur
and sealed the series 2-0 with one left to play. Chasing 247, Ireland had shot
to a promising start courtesy but soon collapsed to 162 all out. Andre Botha
and Alex Cusack did give the Irish some hope in the middle of the innings with
a half century stand but some inspired bowling by Reza turned the scheme of
things around as Ireland slumped from 144/5 to 147/9 in a few overs. Earlier
in the day, Bangladesh played out their complete fifty overs for the first time
in many a match and managed up a sedate and smooth 247. The openers, Tamim Iqbal
and Nafees were the star show for the Bangla outfit and their 94 stand did give
the Bangladeshi outfit the perfect platform to build upon to reach their best
one day international score for a year
Bangladesh have achieved a lot of positive from this tour and will be going
into the last one day hoping to secure their first ever 3-0 drubbing of any
side. After huge losses to South Africa and New Zealand, the Asian cricket outfit
has certainly turned a stone and much of the credit should go to skipper Mohammad
Ashraful. The flamboyant batsman has certainly stood up to the task when required
the most and his decision to go with a youthful attack has certainly been vindicated.
Nafees Ahmed and Aftab have been among the positives for Bangladesh this series
and Bangladesh cricket does indeed promise a lot more in the coming future.
Ireland on the other hand have gone a step back since their World Cup success.
On unfamiliar pitches in Asia, the Irish cricket outfit has certainly struggled
and much improvement is needed if they need to make a mark. The real plus point
has been the fine aggressive batting of Alex Cusack and the former Derbyshire
middle order batsman will be hoping to steer this side to a consolatory victory
in the third One Dayer in Mirpur this coming Saturday 22nd March 2008.
