Bangladesh will continue their tour of the UK with two games against the best
Associate side, Ireland. The first ODI between Bangladesh and Ireland will
be played on the 15th of July, and the second ODI will be played on the 16th of
July.
Bangladesh has had a fruitful tour of the UK so far, and that has been borne
out of the fact that they managed to beat England in the second ODI of the series.
they were roundly beaten in the third ODI, by a whopping 144-run margin, but
that would hardly dampen their spirit!
Click for Live Score Card of Bangladesh Vs IrelandThe good thing from Bangladesh's perspective was that they won the game against
England without the efforts of Tamim Iqbal. This means that the side
can up their game every now and then and try and get the best out of themselves.
Against Ireland, Bangladesh will probably look to ensure that they do not get
complacent. The Bangladeshis are ranked tenth, whereas Ireland are 11th in the
world, and the only major difference between the two teams is that of their
experience. Ireland is not as experienced as Bangladesh and that could pull
the Asian side through the difficult situations in the game.
What Bangladesh will also need to be wary of is that Ireland has looked in
good form all this summer. They started with a match against Australia, which
went right down to the wire, with the Irish having an even chance of winning
it. Ireland then went on to demolish all the sides in the ICC WCL Division
One tournaments, beating Netherlands, Scotland (twice), Afghanistan, Kenya and
Canada rather easily. The form is definitely with the Irish side, and if they
are able to play to the best of their potential, they should be able to give
Bangladesh a good fight.
This will also be a good series for the Bangladeshi middle-order to come back
to form. After all, none of the middle order batsmen have been able to get the
best out of their bats, including the former skipper Shakib al Hasan and Mohammad Ashraful. That will be an issue that the Bangladeshis will look to iron
out and this series will provide for ample opportunities to do that.
Mashrafe Mortaza will thus lock horns with Trent Johnston in the two
match series and one gets the sense that it will be an exciting and high-scoring
one in Ireland.
