Bangladesh will be aiming to wrap up the three match series against Ireland
when they host their Irish counterparts in the second One Dayer on the
20th of march 2008 in Mirpur. Bangladesh won the first One Dayer convincingly
and will be hoping to erase the ghosts of their previous tours against South
Africa and New Zealand with a comprehensive drubbing over the Irish.

The first One Dayer ended in a simple eight wicket victory for the Bangladesh
outfit after they restricted Ireland to just 185 and followed it up with an
emphatic batting performance. Shahriar Nafees struck a fluent unbeaten 90 while
Mohammad Ashraful signaled his return to form with 64 not out as Bangladesh
ended a fourteen match losing streak under skipper Ashraful with an emphatic
eight wicket victory. Bangladesh do look in good position to wrap up the series
and much will be expected from them in this clash. Mashrafe Mortaza was the
star with the ball as his three wickets help restrict Ireland to a lowly 185,
a performance for which he was later awarded the Man of the match. Prior to
this victory, Bangladesh's last ODI triumph came a year back against South Africa
and with the cricket crazy nation rooting for a victory, much will be expected
from the Asian lions this time around.
Ireland on the other hand flattered to deceive as Bangladesh avenged their
world cup loss against the Irish with a thumping victory. Ireland struggled
throughout the opening session going down to 115 for 6 till the 35th over before
a lower-order revival by Cusack and Johnston gave the visitors a more respectable
total. However, a total of 185 was never going to be enough on a placid pitch
and so it proved as the Bangladesh's ran through the Irish attack. With international
cricket opportunities few and far in between, the Irish will be hoping to secure
a victory over Bangladesh that will give backing to their request of being included
in the cream of International test cricket this coming Thursday 20th March 2008
in Shere Bangla National Stadium Mirpur.
