Bangladesh have had the best of the times at this ground having won and lost
in equal numbers and that will mean that they will go into the game as favourites.
Especially against a side like Netherlands who have lost all their four
games thus far.
Bangladesh will understand that they need to get some good batting for the
rest of the games. So far, they have not been able to deliver with the bat but
the advantage they have in this game is that they will be up against a bowling
line up which is weak and inexperienced. This should help them gain something
better with the bat.
Why the Bangladeshi side will be also be favourites is their long list of spin
bowlers. Netherlands has shown that they do not play spin too well when they
went down to the spin of Yuvraj Singh in the previous game that they
played in but that does not mean that Bangladesh can take it for granted.
The reason for that is simple. For one, the pitch has shown that there is a
good chance of dew in the second half of the innings. So if Bangladesh bowl
second, it will be difficult for them to get going and in that case it will
make sense for the side to go with the medium pacers.
Where the Bangladeshis will score over the Dutch is the quality of the line-up.
For example, Bangladesh have a much better set of openers than the Netherlands
side. In Tamim Iqbal and Imrul Kayes, the two can get going and can also
defend stoutly to play a longer innings. As compared to that the Netherlands
side has changed things around at the opening slot and will find it difficult
to get going.
Then again, it will need the likes of Shakib al Hasan to come good with
both the bat and the ball. Shakib has not able to get the runs that one would
expect from his bat and nor has he been able to get any wickets. Time for him
to get it back.
