Bangladesh take on South Africa in the 39th game of the ICC CricketWorld Cup
2011 at the Shere Bangla Stadium in Mirpur. It is an important game from a different
perspective for both the sides and rest assured, the two sides will be fighting
hard to achieve that.
For Bangladesh, the equation turned difficult when the West Indies went down to
England in the previous game. This meant that the English team is almost through
to the next round whereas Bangladesh need to have a string of results going their
way to go through.

The best case scenario for Bangladesh is that they beat South Africa in this game
to enable their qualification for the next round. If Bangladesh win this one,
they will be directly through to the next round.
Now, assuming Bangladesh lose this one, they will end with six points but with
a net run-rate much, much lower than that of West Indies. This will mean that
West Indies will need to lose by a really huge margin to have any chance for
Bangladesh to go through to the next round.
On the other hand, South Africa are already through to the next round. However,
they will wish to ensure that they top the group and the way to do that will be
to beat the Bangladeshis in this game and end on ten points. There is no other
team close to South Africa, to then overtake them in the line-up.
Interestingly, the good news for South Africa is that they seem to have overcome
the fitness issues that they had faced in the previous couple of games. This
will mean that the likes of Imran Tahir and AB de Villiers should be
fit to not only play this one but also play the next game in the quarter-finals,
a news that will enthral the side no end.
Bangladesh will need to win this but the question is whether they have the ammunition
to do so. First of all, the best bet for them would be to bat first and get as
many runs as possible against the attack of South Africa.
After that, they will need to unleash their spin bowlers and despite the threat
of the dew, this has to be the best way of going about things.
