West Indies will play Bangladesh in the 19th game of the World Cup cricket
2011 tournament at the Shere bangle stadium in Mirpur in Dhaka. West Indies
have played two games in the tournament so far, one against South Africa and the
other against Netherlands.
Their performance against South Africa was woeful as they tried to get moving
while batting. They lost wickets in a clutter and the side failed to accelerate
when they needed to in the game. South Africa chased down the target very easily
after losing a couple of quick wickets.

In their second game against Netherlands, the West Indies were merciless.
They batted first, made more than 300 and then bowled the Dutch out for almost
nothing. Kemar Roach was the star of that game as he went on to pick up six
wickets in the innings including a hat-trick at the end.
As opposed to that Bangladesh are a side to watch out for. They had a slow
start to the tournament when they lost to India in the first game that they
played in - also the first of the tournament - but they came back strongly against
Ireland. Despite being bowled out for 205 while batting first, they managed
to win the game thanks to a Shafiul Islam spell that saw him pick up four wickets.
It is evident that the West Indian will look to go into the game with an extra
pace bowler. Bangladesh are good players of spin and they usually play the likes
of Nikita Miller well. Instead of that, they may struggle against the pace and
Andre Russell or Ravi Rampaul will make a better sense to be brought
into the playing eleven.
On the other hand, Bangladesh will need to look at their batting as well. While
they may not change the batting line-up what they need to do is to adjust their
mindset. The batting has shown the impatience right from the word go on many
occasions and they will look to ensure that they see out the bad phases in the
game and ride on the good ones.
With Mohammad Ashraful coming in at the number seven position, the batting
is tall but the top four need to do most of the damage.
Bangladesh and West Indies are two closely coupled sides and it will go down
to the wire. My sense is that West Indies will win this one.
