These two sides are hungry for wins, Zimbabwe because they want to attain Test
status and Bangladesh because they want to silence those who question their
Test status.
Bangladesh did seem to lose way in the first game but came back to win comprehensively
in the previous game. It is of utmost importance that Bangladesh build on their
good performance and not throw it away.
Their captain Shakib ul Hasan said that he is not happy as his role as a captain
before the match, in view of this, it was truly an admirable team effort from
Bangladesh. One thing is almost certain that when Bangladesh wins, Shakib ul Hasan has a part to play with bat or ball. Same was the case in Mirpur,
but he didn't do it single handedly, there was a hat-trick by Abdur Razzak
and half centuries by Raqqibul and Siddique.
Consistency has been Bangladesh's biggest enemy and they would be hoping that
they do not lose momentum on Monday's game.
Bangladesh have won four out of last five ODIs
Zimbabwe are resurgent and you can expect anything from them. Last game was
a disaster for them but knowing them you'll never write them off beforehand.
Zimbabwe failed to build partnerships and get going and as a result were bundled
out for 191.
Their bowling has been their strength but this time it deserted them as well.
Zimbabwe captain Elton Chigumbura said that his side is prepared to win
the series and is not bothered much by being 'minnows' in the series. This attitude
worked against them as they were far too casual in their approach. Lack of planning
in batting and bowling was apparent.
At one stage they were 50/1 from 9.4 overs but threw it away. Zimbabwe would
want their batsmen to perform consistently on testing tracks, and they have
to, for World Cup is nearing. Conditions might be touch different as due might
come into play on 6th December this time around. It would be interesting to
see if Zimbabwe can regroup or Bangladesh will gain momentum.
Zimbabwe have won two of their last five ODI games.
