The Cape Cobras will face Delhi Daredevils in the final game of the League
stage of the Champions League T20. It will be a do-or-die game for both
the sides, with a win for Cobras sending them through to the semi-finals whereas
a Delhi victory pushing them through to the next round.
Click for Live Score Card of Cape Cobras vs Delhi DaredevilsThe Cape Cobras have a reasonable and a balanced line-up. Their batting has shown sparks of brilliance from one player, but if one goes on to analyse,
the brilliance has been supported by an innings or two of great value. That
is where the big run-getters have been able to continue in the same vein - having
batsmen at the other end to rotate the strike and not lose quick wickets.
Herschelle Gibbs is long overdue for a big one, and he will look to make the
innings count. But the issue that he may have is that the game will be played
at the Feroz Shah Kotla, where runs have been difficult to come by. So, it will
be a catch-22 situation for him, and his side, as for once, the side will not
want to lose early wickets, but on the other hand, it will be advisable for
the batsmen to go after the quick bowlers once the ball remains new. J.P. Duminy
will also do well to get going again, as would captain Andrew Puttick,
both of whom had a couple of good innings to boot!
Talking of the Delhi side, they will be used to these conditions, and will
know exactly how to approach the game. Virender Sehwag played one of
the gems in the last group game against Wayamba, but rather surprisingly, Dinesh Karthik did the same, and got the innings going for his side. In turn, the
bowling will also depend on two of the best bowlers, Glen McGrath and
Dirk Nannes, both of whom can pick up early wickets to peg the side back.
In turn, the Cobras bowling is not too strong, especially while bowling first.
There are no real big names, and it will all depend on the spinners in Claude Henderson and the other part-timers like Justin Onting and J-P. Duminy to
share the workload. Delhi will be favourites but it could all change if the
Cobras batsmen got going.
