 A new week kickstarts in the Indian Premier League with Chennai Super
Kings hosting Kolkata Knight Riders in the fifth season of the Indian Premier
League in what is expected to be a thrilling encounter. Both teams are well-placed
on the points table but any slip ups can prove costly.
With ten points from nine matches, Kolkata Knight Riders are second
on the points table and would feel comfortable being there. They crushed aside
Royal Challengers Bangalore in emphatic style on Saturday, beating them by 47
runs. Captain Gautam Gambhir starred with his glitzy 93 that included
five sixes while Brendon McCullum and Jacques Kallis scored 40s. The
trio will again look to be the backbone of a strong total against Chennai. The
bowlers also seem to have understood their roles quite with Sunil Narine making
run-scoring difficult while Brett Lee has also looked charged up for his four-over
bursts. The ploy of opening the bowling with Yusuf Pathan has also been an inspiring
trick to unsettle the opposition.

For Chennai Super Kings, their seven-run defeat against Kings XI Punjab was
their second in a row, leaving them in third position with nine points from
as many games. Chasing a modest target, they fell away towards the end and their
batting continues to be a major sign of worry for MS Dhoni's men. Faf du Plessis has been the only bright spot with three half centuries. Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja will be hoping to do justice to their talent and
expectations, both having failed to register a half-century so far. Dwayne Bravo,
who chipped in with a late 30-run cameo on Saturday, will be looking to spend
more time at the crease to unleash his real capabilities. With the ball, Shadab
Jakati struggled in the last match but his place is under no immediate threat
at the moment.
Chennai will be the hosts for the match starting at 8.00pm.
