The DLF Indian Premier League has thrown up quite a large number of
surprises and on the biggest ones will be the failure of two highly hyped up
sides in Deccan Chargers and Bangalore Royal Challengers. Both
these outfits have not been at their efficient best and as a result are completely
out of the final qualification equation for the championship. However, both
these sides will be hoping to avoid the shame of finishing last in the league
and they will be eager to prove a point or two when they come up against each
other in Hyderabad this coming Sunday.

Deccan Chargers have proved to be one of the biggest flops of the tournament.
Despite having several good individual performances in their outfit, they come
into this match rooted at the bottom of the table and have in general failed
to transpire any confidence. While the batting has regularly scaled score of
over 160 0n placid pitches, it is their bowling that has been a complete let
down so far and much needs to be improved upon if they are to end the championship
with some respect intact. The Chargers have won just two of their twelve matches
so far and despite some fine batting performances by the likes of Rohit Sharma
and Venugopal Rao, they have never really fought any other team close. Their
last match against the Kings XI was a perfect testimony to this as the Deccan
Chargers were unable to even defend a high total of 175. With over a 100 million
dollars spent on the outfit, the Chargers will need to prove their worth and
they will be aiming to register their first home victory in the IPL when they
come up against the Bangalore Royal Challengers this weekend in Hyderabad.
Bangalore Royal Challengers on the other hand have looked flat in both the
bowling and batting departments and have been heavily criticised for their rather
timid performances so far in the tournament. However, the Royal Challengers
did turn the tide last time around when they put up an inspired performance
to depend a low target of 127 against the Chennai Superkings. The veterans in
Rahul Dravid and Anil Kumble came to the fore with both the bat and ball
and the likes of Misbah Ul Haq and Jacques Kallis will be hoping to emulate
them this time around. Bangalore have won three out of their twelve matches
so far, a single victory ahead of the Deccan Chargers and they will be aiming
to keep it that way when they trip down to Hyderabad to face the Chargers this
coming Sunday 25th may 2008 in the Indian Premier League.
