It will be a match of immense consequences of the IPL league table when Delhi
Daredevils come up against the Kolkata Knightriders in the league meeting
between these two sides at Delhi this coming Thursday. Both these sides are still

pick up victories in their two of their last three matches to harbour any hopes
of qualification. Delhi's performance primarily depends on the form of the opening
duo of batsmen and bowlers. The likes of Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir have shone
all throughout the tournament and a devastating start from their will be essential
to their success this time around. The bowling does look settled indeed with
Glenn McGrath and Mohammad Asif miserly as ever. The emergence of the big hitting
talents of Maharoof and the uncanny spin of Amit Mishra will be of big help
to the Delhi Daredevils as they look to upstage the Knightriders. Delhi have
slipped up drastically winning just two of their last six matches and one can
expected a strong rebuttal from the Delhi Daredevils when they come up against
the Knightriders this Thursday.
On the other hand, Knightriders have disappointed themselves with a shocking
run of three losses and three victories on the trot had increased the morale.
The Kolkata Knightriders come into this clash on the back of a hugely disappointing
loss against the Rajasthan Royals last time around. Defending a mere total of
148, the Knightriders looked to have taken the initiative when they pushed the
Royals to 69/4 at one stage of the match. However, some brutal hitting from
the likes of Yusuf Pathan and Mohammad Kaif stole the match away from
the Knightriders. The outfit from Kolkata have now lost seven of their
twelve matches in the table and qualification to the semi finals looks to be
a distant mirage. Kolkata's biggest weakness this tournament has been the dismal
form of their batsmen who has just not be able to get out of the blocks quick
enough. Only Ganguly and David Hussey have come up with their heads held high
and the likes of Butt, Hafeez and Saha really need to get their act together
if the Knightriders are to have any chance of cutting through. The bowling however
is strong on paper and with Sohaib Akthar back into full fitness, the Knightriders
will be hoping for a repeat of their win against Delhi last time around at home
when they come up against struggling Delhi Daredevils at the Feroz Shah Kotla
stadium this coming Thursday 22nd of May 2008.
