Now that is some exciting! The virtual underdogs, who were expected to be rolled over 3-0 again, after having lost all the games in this year, made a shocking
comeback by beating England in the second ODI of the series to level it
at 1-1. And that means that the virtual no-hopers in Bangladesh will now go into
the game with a good chance of actually winning the series!
Click for Live Score Card of England Vs BangladeshOf course, it will not be as easy as it looks. Bangladesh played a very
good match last time around and the English took it rather complacently. Now
that they have been stung hard, the English side will do its best to not fall
in the same trap for the third ODI as well.
For one, England was a batsman short in the previous game. While this can hardly
be an excuse, it would have been the cause of some problem for them. Again,
having said that, the English side had gone in with an extra batsman in the
game, getting Trott in place of James Tredwell - a batsman was sent back and
a bowler was got in!
Ravindra Bopara has been called into the squad, fresh from a good series with
the England Lions in which he had a huge century to his name. He may or may
not make it to the playing eleven, but given that the English side had decided
to play one bowler less and still managed to restrict the opposition to a low
230 score, means that they will want to go in with the same strategy. And this
will mean that Ravindra Bopara will get a chance.
However, the English side may want to beware of the way in which the Tamim Iqbal will go about his business. In the two games that he has batted in
so far, Iqbal, who is the best batsman in the side by a distance, has got his
starts. And yet, he has failed to convert the innings into anything meaningful
for his side. He is not a player who has failed badly in recent times and once
he gets going, the Bangladeshi side should get a further boost. Especially with
the opposition going in with a bowler short.
It is the Bangladeshi bowlers who had set up the previous win. They bowled
their channels, they bowled their lines and by the time the last wicket fell,
they looked to have done so much work, that they looked exhausted. Will they
have the strength to come back and repeat their performances? We will soon know!
