At last Team India got something except a defeat. They might have won the match
because they put up a pretty good total of 274 runs.
England were too shaky at the beginning of their innings as they lost two quick
wickets. But rain saved team India or England? The match was abandoned
at last. We can't make a decision because it was too early to make a decision.
England could play only 7.2 overs and then the rain started and it ruined the
match though it was expected to resume the match but rain started again and
washed the match away.

Team India were different in this match. They started their innings very carefully,
didn't take any unnecessary risk. Both openers played extra ordinary well.
New comer Rahane replied English bowler like a warrior though he had to stop
could not make it to even fifty but his sensible partner Patel put up an exhibition
of 95 runs. Unfortunately he had to be a victim of nervous nineties.
The removal of Rahul Dravid brings the technology issues in the spotlight
once again. He was called not out by the on field umpire but the review system
gave him out!
But it was more surprising that the Hotspot could not detect any bat and ball
contact. It was the most talked topic of the match and it will be over the next
few or many days.
But team India were able to make it to 274 runs which was considered a very
good total as legendary bowler Wasim Akram predicted 220-230 runs would be a
very good total on that track.
When it was replying time for English batsman they failed. They lost two quick
wickets. Praveen Kumar struck twice and England were 27/2 at the end
of 7.2 overs when rain started and could not let the match to resume.
So, the next ODI which will be played in Southampton on Tuesday at 18:30 IST
and 13:00 GMT is expected to be very much competitive because team India fought
back well.
Unfortunately, there will be issues around missing players. Manoj Tiwary
will be replacing Rohit Sharma as he got seriously injured by a delivery from
Stuart Broad. He will miss the rest of the matches as well.
Before this incident, 27 players were used in this tour by India but it is
not over; probably one more to come as batting genius Sachin Tendulakar
will meet a surgeon on Monday. He might even miss the whole series but let's
keep our finger crossed so that we have the chance to witness his 100th century.
Probably there will not be any change in England's team line up but they have
to show their passion and aggression once again to teach team India a very good
lesson that they are the better than the World Champions.
