The
one-off T20I between England and India will be played on August
31 and the Indian side will be searching for their first win at the international
level of the series. England had earlier won the Test series 4-0 and another loss
here will push them right back with regards to the way things have been with regard,
especially after the margin of defeats in the Test matches.

The Indians will look to first of all get their combination right. They have
a 16-member side and will need their best 11 to get out on the park, although
it will be interesting to see whether they want to go ahead with Rahul Dravid
in their playing eleven. As doubtful as that sounds, it is interesting to note
that the Indians had gone into the warm-up games against the English counties
with Rahul Dravid in the line-up - an indication that there is a chance
he will be given an opportunity.
Gautam Gambhir will miss the game as he continues to battle sighting problems
and concussion, which means that the Indians have captain MS Dhoni to lead and
the likes of Suresh Raina, Virat Kohli, Parthiv Patel, Ajinkya Rahane
and Rohit
Sharma as some of their other batsmen. With Varun Aaron still looking rusty
in his outings, it will be difficult to see him come out to bowl, as Munaf
Patel and Praveen Kumar should be the most likely certainties to go in with
Vinay Kumar. It will be a surprise if RP Singh gets a chance again till
one of the bowlers gets hits.
This means the Indian team will be as follows:
Parthiv Patel, Ajinkya Rahane, Rahul Dravid, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Rohit
Sharma, MS Dhoni, Praveen Kumar, Munaf Patel, Vinay Kumar, R Ashwin.
The ones to miss out this game are Sachin Tendulkar (who has given up on playing
in this format), RP Singh, Varun Aaron, Amit Mishra and Gautam Gambhir
England will be led by Stuart Broad who will look to notch up his first win as
the captain of the side. What will be interesting to see is if the side will be
able to maintain the same momentum that they had in the Tests, where they managed
to scrap really hard in all the games whenever they looked even slightly down.
It must be noted that England is the defending World T20 champion.
