England will face Pakistan in the fourth and the final Test match which will be played at the Mecca of cricket, the Lord's. England had earlier led 2-0
before the Pakistani side came back well to win the third Test match at Oval to
make it 2-1. If Pakistan is able to sustain their momentum in this game, they
possess the potential to make things difficult for the English side. But with
their ability to self-destruct, things could get interesting in this game.
Click for Live Score Card of England Vs PakistanEngland's problem in the last game was their batting. In both the innings,
the batting failed to make an impression and fell as badly as the opposition
had in the previous games. In the first innings, it was Wahab Riaz, whereas
in the second innings, Mohammad Aamer ensured that the English side was
not going anywhere.
For this game, England will need to bat much better than what they have. The
good news for them is the return to form of Alastair Cook, but the lack
of runs from Kevin Pietersen will continue to be a bother for the side. What
will be even more irking for the English team is that the likes of Paul Collingwood
and Eoin Morgan have failed to get too many runs in the series so far and their
resolute will also be tested.
Thankfully for the English team, the bowling has done well so far, and if the
conditions were to remain anywhere close to what they were earlier in the Tests,
things could get troublesome for the Pakistani batsmen as well.
Speaking from Pakistan's perspective, the return of Mohammad Yousuf
has obviously been of a big help as the middle-order looks more stable now.
With that done, and the fact that Salman Butt has put himself at the number
three position, the side's batting looks far better than it has looked so far.
Yasir Hameed's presence at the top of the innings should have probably come
a Test match earlier, as he showed his talent in the first innings.
What has really impressed from the Pakistani stable is their bowling. When
the conditions are swinging and seaming, the pair of Mohammad Asif and Mohammad
Aamer will make it difficult for the batsmen. When the pitch is drier, it is
Saeed Ajmal, who can turn the ball and also make it go straight in order
to get the side going.
