England will take on Sri Lanka in the second Test match of the three-match
series at the Lord's in London. This will be the start of the second Test match,
of the series which England already leads 1-0 in the series which has seen
some strange cricket being played.
The first Test match at the Cardiff in Wales was all set to be a draw when the
last day of the game turned things so drastically around for the England team
that even they were surprised by the results. England had declared the innings
at the start of the fifth day with a lead of 96, which meant that the Sri Lankan
side had to begin their second innings and play out two sessions. Instead, the
Lankan side was bowled out for 82, in less than 25 overs and the game was won
by an innings by England.

This happened despite the home team not possessing their main strike bowler
James Anderson, who got injured in the first innings and did not play any further
part in the game. A shell shocked Sri Lankan side will have to do much better
than what they did in the first Test match to be able to overcome the English
side in the second Test.
The issue is that this second Test match will be played at the Lord's where the
slope makes it difficult for the pace bowlers. Especially those, who have not
bowled here before and this will make the Sri Lankan bowling a tad inexperienced.
It is never easy for visiting teams to win at the Lord's and one gets the sense
that it will not be easy for them to do so here, especially after what had happened
at the Cardiff in Wales.
The Sri Lankan side will need to look closely at their bowling. Having Thisara Perera to open their bowling is a negative move and they will need to ensure
that they can get the right bowlers to form the opening combination.
On the other hand, they will be reasonably pleased with the batting but will
need the likes of Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene to get
going with the rest of the side. T Dilshan, the captain will hope that he can
get a big one as will Thilan Samaraweera.
England has got in Jade Dernbach to the side and will ensure that they can get
going with their bowling.
