The third ODI between England and Sri Lanka will be played at the
Lord's in London on Sunday, July 3. The series is tied at one game all, after
the English side had won the Test series 1-0 and the one-off T20I was easily won
by Sri Lanka.

It is a surprise for many that Alastair Cook is captaining the English side. He
hasn't had the best of times in this format of the game and while the side has
also not had the best of times in this format, the board seems to have been left
without a choice. He had a good game in the first match but the reality of captaining
a side would have sunk in only after the loss in the previous game.
It must be said that his case has been made harder by the bowling department.
James Anderson has returned to form well, but Stuart Broad has generally
struggled and with Tim Brenan returning from injury and Jade Dernbach being
a youngster, life isn't too easy for England.
On the other hand, their batting has done well in both the games. There have
been contributions from almost everyone except, to an extent, Kevin Pietersen,
who will now look to get on board with at least a big half-century.
With the Lord's expected to be a full house for this England-Sri Lanka 3rd ODI,
it is only evident that watching the England-Sri Lanka 3rd ODI live on television
will be an option that most will opt for.
Sri Lanka batted miserably in the first ODI but have come back strongly in
the second one. They were propped by the batting of Mahela Jayawardene,
wh got a century and later by Kumar Sangakkara and a superb rearguard
action by Angelo Mathews.
Thus far, Sri Lanka's problems have usually been associated with their middle-order
batting which seemed to be resolved with the presence of Mathews. Now, the top-order
consisting of Dilshan and Jayawardene can bat without any pressure as they have
done in the past.
There is nothing to choose from between the two sides here but England need to
be wary of the Sri Lankan spinners.
