The fourth T20 game of the Champions League T20 will be played between Lions and the South Australian side at Centurion. Lions are from South Africa
and will be the home side for this game, whereas South Australia is from Australia.
The Lions would have already played their first game by the time this match
begins, and a lot will depend on how well they perform in the first game. The
Lions will obviously possess the home-advantage given that the tracks are somewhat
different from the ones found in Australia. However, the issue that the Highveld Lions may face against the South Australian side is that their batting is
not as strong as it should be against a decently strong bowling attack. In fact,
Alviro Petersen is the one man to look up to, but with bowlers like Shaun Tait
bowling, it will be difficult for the side.
Click for Live Score Card of Highveld Lions Vs South Australia RedbacksWhat the Lions will need is for Zander de Bruyn to bat higher up the order
probably at the three or four position and get them some partnerships,
given that it is not going to be a fast-scoring track.
One gets the sense that with Neil McKenzie in the team as well, what the Lions
could fall short on is someone who can give them the momentum at the end of
the innings.
South Australia are led by Graham Manou, who has played for the Australian
side as a wicket-keeper before. They have a decent batting line-up for sure,
but the one thing to note is that they have a much better balanced bowling line-up
than most of the others, especially the Lions. In Shaun Tait, they have
the worlds fastest bowler, and there are guys like Peter George
and Daniel Christian to support him. The spinning department also sees the return
of Cullen Bailey, who is a one-time Australia prospect.
The one batsman to watch for the South Australian Redbacks side is Callum
Fergusson, who was one of those who had played for Australia in the limited
overs version of the game earlier. However, a freak injury on the field had
meant that he was out of action for almost one year since the end of the Champions
Trophy last year, and that meant that his career was pegged back. Fergussons
batting is one of the better ones in the recent times in this version of the
game and will be the key player in the South Australian side.
