The second game of the third day of the tournament will see the Deccan Chargers
take on the Somerset Sabres in a game that will see two mates from Western Australia
lead their sides out. Adam Gilchrist will lead the Deccan Chargers, whereas
Justin Langer, his friend from even the Aussie playing days will be the
captain of the Somerset side.
The good thing for the Somerset side is that they will have the services of
Marcus Trescothick, who has earlier suffered from stress-related illnesses
in the past. In fact, he had taken an early retirement from the international
game in order to overcome the issues, but never again played again at the international
level.

best and the most mentally tough players one would have seen in the game of
cricket. This, in fact, will the chance for Langer to prove a point after he
had decided not to play for the Rajasthan Roayls in the IPL-I. Now, back
in India, he will want to do well as a captain and as a batsman in the top-order.
Arul Suppiah is a bowler that Langer has really backed and he will be the one
to look out for from the Sabres side.
For the Hyderabad Deccan Chargers, they have an embarrassment of riches.
In Adam Gilchrist, they have a batsman par excellence, and it would be interesting
to see how the Somerset guys bowl at him. He loves to cut and pull, and is not
a bad driver of the ball as well. Will Somerset want to use a spinner first
up against Gilly is an option that they can definitely explore for starters.
Andrew Symonds is bound to make it to the playing eleven as well, what with
his ability to bat, bowl and field like there is no tomorrow. His value to the
team was accentuated in the second edition of the IPL when he had flown from
Australia and smashed the opposition away in most of the games that he
had played in.
Bowling will lie in the hands of the Rudra Pratap Singh and Pragyan Ojhan, both of whom are struggling with their international places. Hence,
it could become doubly important for them to play to their best potential.
To me, it does look like that the Deccan Chargers will go into the game as
favourites.
