India look to seal their place in the finals of the VB series
with a victory over Australia this coming Sunday at Sydney in
the CB series fourth round of matches. India lead Sri Lanka by
seven points going into the clash and the added incentive of topping Australia
will certainly give the Indian troops inspiration ahead of this crucial clash.

In hindsight, India have had a brilliant tour of Australia and despite injuries
at wrong intervals to key players and some atrocious decisions, India have been
right in the mix challenging Australia ball by ball for most part of the tour.
The One Dayer Series has been no different and while Sri Lanka have been woefully
short of form, there has been a constant tug of ware between the remaining two
sides. India have won one of their three matches against Australia, lost one
and had one cancelled out due to rain. India could have made it two of three
last time around when they skittled the Australians down for 203. However, a
impotent batting display by the top ordered rendered India half a century short
of the target. India however, did make amends with a brilliant victory over
Sri lanka is testing conditions in Hobart and with the welcome return to form
of southpaw Yuvraj Singh , things do look bright indeed for team India going
into this clash. Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been in superb touch all series and
Sachin Tendulkar will be eyeing for his first big score of the series when he
returns to the twenty yards on his favourite venue Sydney. Munaf Patel is expected
to make way for Praveen Kumar in this clash while the rest of the side that
defeated Sri Lanka four days back is expected to be retained for this tie.
Australia are through to the finals and will be eyeing their eight CB series
trophy in ten years. Australia have been efficient rather than brilliant all
series and the lack of form for the top order is something that will bother
captain Ricky Pointing. Pointing himself is averaging below ten this series
and will be hoping to lead the team by example last time around. Australia were
lucky to snatch in a win against Sri Lanka is dodgy conditions at the MCG and
will be hoping to improve upon their modest scores this series. Only Adam Gilcrhist
and Michael Clarke have been amongst the runs thus yet and with the Indian middle
order starting to regain form, Australia need to find their touch if they are
not to miss out on winning the CB Series in it's last ever version. Bowling
wise, Australia have been bang on target and the pace trio of Nathan Bracken,
Brett Lee and Mitchell Johnson have served the Baggie green well over and over
again throughout the series. Australia have never lost two matches to India
in one day series at home and will be hoping to make sure that doesn't happen
when they host the men in blue this coming Sunday 24th of February 2008 at the
SCG in Sydney.
