India will be hoping to brush away the disappointments of their
defeat at the hands of Australia in their last match as they look to
secure a place in the finals of the CB Series with a victory over Sri Lanka this coming Tuesday. India capitulated chasing a dim score and having gone through a long unbeaten streak before coming unstuck in their
last two matches, the men in blue will be desperate for a good performance that
would merit a place in the finals.

India were unlucky to lose out to Sri Lanka in their last meeting a week ago.
The Duckworth Lewis rule played against the Indians and the required score of
154 was chased down with ease by Sri Lanka. However, the same cannot be said
about India in the last match against Australia when India threw away a certain
victory with some irresponsible stroke play in the middle of the innings. With
the axing of Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly from the team, the middle order
for once looks bare indeed and India will be desperately hoping for the likes
of Robin Uthappa and Yuvraj Singh to strike form if they are to progress ahead
in the series. India however, have been nothing short of sensational in the
bowling department and with Ishant Sharma forming a lethal partnership with
Sreesanth, there are options aplenty for the Indian side. Munaf Patel might
be dropped for this clash given the form of the remaining bowlers to make way
for Virender Sehwag as India look to go all guns blazing against the Sri Lankans
this coming Tuesday.
Sri Lanka like India, have batted poorly all throughout the tour so far. However,
a fortuitous victory against India coupled with a shambolic batting performance
by the men in blue against Australia has put the Lankans right back into qualification
contention, when in all fairness they should been way behind right now. Kumara
Sangakarra has been the lone shining star for the Sri Lankans all summer and
the emerald nation desperately need the likes of Sanath Jayasurya and Mahela
Jayawardena to click if they are to make the most of their good luck and move
ahead. Sri Lanka's bowling has been impressive though and captain Jayawardena
is unlikely to tinker with his pace quartet of Maharoof, Dilhara Fernando, Lasith
Malinga and Chaminda Vaas going into this clash. Malinga in particular has been
impressive all summer and will be looking to skittle out India in the third
round of VB series matches this coming Tuesday 19th of February 2008 at the
Bellerive Oval in Hobart.
