India take on Australia in the 3rd test match of the
latest edition of the Border-Gavaskar test series at the high and bouncy WACA
this Friday in what promises to be a real cracker of a test match. Though the
trophy has been retained by the Aussies on the virtue of their unbeatable 2-0
lead, India can still come back and deny Australia their 17th consecutive
victory on the run. This match comes on the back off one of the most controversial
test matches ever and India will be gunning for vengeance when they take the
field on what is probably the fasters cricketing track on the world.
Though Australian have taken a 2-0 lead, it wouldnt be
totally out of context to say that the Indian cricket team gave the Aussies
a run for the money in both and have proved to be genuine challengers for Australias
crown at the summit of International cricket. Indias test side deserved
at least a draw from their performance in Sydney where they were the first side
in many a match to take a first innings lead over the Australian test cricket
outfit. Off-spinner Harbhajan is expected to play this match as the jury over
his supposed racist comments are yet to be out. Another casualty of the infamous
Sydney test, Umpire Steve Bucknor is dropped for this match and the Indian cricket
team will be hoping for much better decision making this month. India are likely
to field the same side that nearly achieved a admirable draw at Sydney. Yuvraj
Singh, Dhoni and Wasin Jaffers places will be under scrutiny going
into this clash and they would be hoping to erase all doubts over their form
with some solid secured innings.
Despite all the hula boo over the second test match and all the rebukes hurled
at Australias on field sporting behaviour, the bottom line stands is that
the Australian test cricket team has once again come back from a precarious
situation to win a test match and will be hoping to silence all critics with
a remarkable 3-0 lead over India at the WACA. Michael Clarke is expected to
keep his place despite being miserably out of form in recent matches while Chris
Rogers may be slotted in for Matthew Hayden if the burly left hander doesnt
make it in time for this clash. Australia are widely expected to retain the
same bowling line up that has skittled the Indian cricket batting line up in
last innings of both the matches so far in this series.
