The Indians had a forgettable World Cup in the Caribbean four years ago and
will be keen to atone for those poor performances this time around in front
of their home fans. India go into this tournament as the second best
ranked team in the world behind defending champions Australia.

India lost to Bangladesh in the 2007 Cricket World Cup, a result that
hastened their exit from the Caribbean. On that occasion, India won the toss
and decided to take first guard. But none of the batsmen barring southpaws Saurav
Ganguly and Yuvraj Singh managed to apply themselves and the Men in Blue could
only muster only 191 in their allotted quota of overs.
In reply, Bangladesh coasted to victory thanks to half centuries from Tamim
Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib Al Hasan. The Tigers have had mixed
success in the lead up to the tournament- they crushed Canada but were unable
to replicate that performance against sub continental rivals Pakistan in their
final warm up fixture.
