The last game of the league stage of the tri-series tournament will see India
play Bangladesh. Sri Lanka has already qualified for the finals of the
tournament and this game will decide who they will play in the finals.
MS Dhoni has been ultra-critical about his bowling throughout this series.
In fact, their bowling woes had begun in their seven match series against Australia,
and nothing much had changed during the series the five game series at home
against Sri Lanka. With two successive games in which the bowlers have been
bashed around during this series itself, it remains to be seen whether the change
in bowling will make any difference to the side.
Click for Live Score Card of India vs BangladeshThere have been rumours that India may have bowling coach, Eric Simons
join the team for a period of a couple of games during the series. The India-Sri
Lanka game could be see Simons be there for the first time in the series and
it will be interesting to see whether his presence makes any difference to the
Indian team's performance.
The batting lies in safe hands of MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh, but with
the openers yet to fire in the series, the game against Sri Lanka assumes importance
for them as they should be facing them in the finals.
For the Bangladeshis, the game may just be of academic interest. But, the manner
in which they have played so far, it is a surprise that they have not won a
single game so far. The law of averages suggest that they should be giving a
performance that matters an win it for them. Their captain had made a mistake
by electing to bat first in their game against India and one can be rest
assured that if Shakib-al-Hasan wins the toss, he will want to field first.
They have batted first in all the three games and have struggled to bowl in
the second innings - given that the dew has played its role in the game.
The issue with the Bangladeshis has been their bowling. They have not been
able to control the flow of runs under the lights, given that the moisture in
the outfield has allowed the opposition to get away. In fact, the Indians will
know that the one main problem that the Bangladeshis face is to maintain that
line and length over the period of the entire match, and that is where Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir can try and see through the early part and try
and capitalise.
