The Indian team seems to have gone into their shell after it was reported that
Virender Sehwag and M.S.Dhoni did not see eye to eye and there was some
kind of a problem within the team. However, that did not affect their performance
in their first Bangladesh game as they came out victors rather convincingly.
Rohit Sharma has taken to the opener's role like a duck to water and
looks like he can play both the attacking the defensive role to perfection.
Gautam Gambhir also looks like he slowly regaining his touch and if Suresh
Raina could be allowed to bat at the number three slot and allowed to flower
like he had during the IPL, it could just be a top order that India will be
looking at.
Yuvraj Singh may have hit out a 40 against Bangladesh, but he will want
to bat higher against Ireland to get himself a fine knock before the business
end of the competition. Dhoni looks like he is batting a little higher than
he deserves at the number three slot, and may want to push himself down the
order.
The bowling had been decent in the first game without excelling too much, but
Zaheer Khan was coming back from an injury. More Zaheer bowls, the better
he usually becomes and that would mean that one can expect him to play this
game despite the injury issues. Pragyan Ojha continues to bamboozle the batsmen
and it remains a wonder as to who will get the nod between Harbhajan and Ojha,
if there was a need to pick up only one spinner!
For the Ireland team, Trent Johnston will continue to prove to be a thorn if
the pitch can afford a little swing around in the first few overs. He had bowled
all his four overs at a go, but it remains to be seen whether he will be allowed
to do so against a stronger Indian side.
Neil O'Brien batted like a champion against Bangladesh but twisted his leg
in the process and looks to be doubtful starter for the India game. With Ireland
having already qualified, it may not make sense for him to aggravate the injury.
Jeremy Bray and William Porterfield will have to take on more responsibility
on their shoulders in his absence.
