India will play Sri Lanka in the final of the tri-series tournament at
Dhaka. Both the sides, India and Sri Lanka won three out of their four games in
the league stages of the tournament before making it to the final. Between the
two teams, Sri Lanka had beaten India in the first game that the two sides
played with each other while getting routed in the second.
India will go into the game with a full side. They had been missing Virender
Sehwag in the previous couple of games, but the more odd thing was that it has
been reported that Sehwag has not been a part of the practice sessions either.
Hence, it remains to be seen whether Virender Sehwag is injured or whether
he is resting from the nets given the amount of cricket that has been played.
Click for Live Score Card of India vs Sri LankaThis also means that if Sehwag returns back, Dinesh Karthik will have to sit
out. The rest of the line-up should remain the same, what with Virat Kohli
having established himself at the number three position with some classic batting.
He already has had an unbeaten century and two half centuries to go with it
and one can be rest assured that skipper MS Dhoni will not want to fiddle around
with his position.
From amongst the bowling, Sudeep Tyagi should be replaced by Ashish
Nehra, after a reasonable couple of games. So should Harbhajan Singh, after
having being replaced by Amit Mishra in the previous inconsequential match.
Sri Lanka will obviously be bolstered by the presence of Tillakaratne Dilshan.
The Indians had been lucky enough to get rid of him early after a bright start,
but they will need to bowl as well as they had in the previous game to not only
dismiss him but also nip the others in the bud.
The other threat that the Indians may feel is from the batting of Thissara
Perrera. Perrera had almost single-handedly changed the game into their favour
in the first game between the two sides, and the Indians will need to come up
with some plans to get rid of him earlier.
Talking of the Lankan bowling, it will revolve around the likes of Chanaka Welegedara and one of Nuwan Kulasekera or Thilan Thushara. Perrera will
be a good back-up bowler and it is imperative that the Indians do not treat
him with respect. Suraj Randiv should back the bowling with his off-spin, and
there will be others like Dilshan, Kandamby and Samaraweera to get the remaining
ten overs going.
Toss will obviously be crucial and the team winning the toss should field and
win the game.
