India will be hoping to make a dent on Sri Lanka's CB tournament
aspirations with a victory in the second one dayer at the Gabba barely two days
after the conclusion of the first one dayer at the same venue. India are a couple
of paceman short after key injuries to R.P Singh and Zaheer Khan and
a powerful Sri Lankan batting line up will be hoping to kick start their month
of 20-20 action with a victory over the Indian team this Tuesday.

India have had a mixed time in Australia with some stunning
victories and performances coupled with some rather mediocre and unforgettable
ones. The latest 20-20 result, for instance would rank high among India's worst
results as the World Champions of the smallest version of the game crashed to
a dismal seventy four all out putting a blog on their hitherto brilliant 20-20
record. India will have Yuvraj Singh is back for this clash , which would
come as a huge boost for the Men in blue considering his exploits with the bat
in the past twelve months while R.P Singh and Zaheer Khan will be the
notable absentees from a young Indian pace attack. Piyush Sharma may be given
an outing in this clash in place of Harbhajan Singh and Dinesh Karthik
will most probably have to be content with a place in the dressing room as Yuvraj
Singh will slot straight back into a young Indian batting line up.
SriLanka on the other hand, have no such injury problems and
have put out their strongest squad available for this series. Sri Lanka
have selected six pacemen for this series and will be banking on the experienced
heads of seasoned campaigners in Mahela Jayawardena and Sanath Jayasurya
to pip India to a final spot. Muttiah Muralitharan will be back to the
venue where he was remarkably no-balled seven times twelve years ago and will
be hoping to make up for his lack of success in Australia with a thumping finish
this time around. Kumara Sangakarra as usual represents the biggest batting
threat for the Indians and the enigmatic left hander looks in ever better touch
after dropping his wicket keeping gloves for a purely batting role earlier last
year. Sri Lanka nearly caused an upset in their last CB series outing three
years back when they defeated Australia in the first one dayer and will be looking
to take an affirmative step towards success in this year's edition with a victory
over India this upcoming Tuesday 5th of February 2008 in Brisbane.
