Kumar Sangakkara took over the captaincy reins in the last match and would have
had enough time now to sit down and devise plans in order to get the campaign
back on track. In their last match, they struggled against tidy bowling by the
Mumbai Indians with only Shikhar Dhawan able to break free, scoring 41 runs off
just 24 balls.
Cameron White chipped in with a cameo later but 138 was always going to be
difficult to defend. With the ball, Dale Steyn will once again be the
key given his exploits of bowling fast and pitching it up to the batsmen. The
bowling is their weaker link in the side overall and would largely look to the
batsmen to give them a competitive score to defend.
Rajasthan Royals restored some order to their campaign with a victory
against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Sunday, giving them their third win from
four matches to take them top of the table. Ajinkya Rahane, the leading run
scorer of the current season, is the one to watch out for after he scored his
maiden IPL century in the last match.
Owais Shah has also been no short of a revelation with his 60 runs taking only
26 balls. When the batsmen fire, the bowlers have not responded poorly, as they
completed a 59-run win in the last match. Siddarth Trivedi finished with four
wickets while Amit Singh and Pankaj Singh had two apiece.
With Kevon Cooper and Shaun Tait out with injuries, the replacements
have responded splendidly well.
The match starts at 4.00pm local time.
