The
Kochi Tuskers Kerala will play the Delhi Daredevils in what will be the
36th game of the Indian Premier League this season. The game will be played
at the Nehru Stadium in Kochi. The two sides will need to get back to their winning
ways in order to have a good chance of making it to the playoffs and for that,
they will need to play much better cricket than what they have so far.
The Tuskers have lost the last two games in a row which makes it difficult
for them to regain the momentum. This comes after they had suddenly looked like
worthy contenders, having won three games in a row but the problem is with their
top order which relies so heavily on the likes of Brendon McCullum and Mahela
Jayawardene, that it is difficult to get going without them.

Where the plot becomes even more interesting is that the bowling has suddenly
begun to show some more verve and bite. Till about the previous game, there
wasn't anything in the bowling to show for but now, all three bowlers, S Sreesanth, Rudra Pratap Singh and Vinay Kumar, seem to be doing a decent job for
the side.
What they need to do now is to ensure that the batsmen can get going with some
reasonable score at the home ground.
It is not as if the opponents are in a fine fettle. The Delhi Daredevils
come into the game with just two wins from seven games and are currently placed
10th game in the set of ten teams in the tournament. The reason for this is
the lack of batting prowess that they have shown in the tournament to go with
the spinners struggling to get anything their way as well.
The likes of Ashok Dinda and Irfan Pathan have not done their job while
Ajit Agarkar and Varun Aaron have not got enough opportunities. It will be left
to some one like a Morne Morkel to get the wickets and yet, the side
needs to score the runs on the board first.
There isn't much to choose from between these two lowly placed sides but one
thing is for certain that the side losing this game can bid their chances of
making it to the next round good bye. For now though, the Kochi Tuskers will
be favourites to win this one.
