It will be a mighty battle of two teams with similar forms and position when
Kolkata Knightriders come up against the Chennai Superkings in
the Indian Premier League cricket tournament this coming Sunday 18th of May
2008 at the Eden Gardens. Both these sides are on twelve points each and victory
for either side will most probably secure a place in the semifinals of the inaugural
edition of the Indian Premier League which has been a complete success bar a

Kolkata Knightriders have improved upon their game massively after a barren
run in recent weeks and now look to march in on to a date with the semifinals

by the brilliant yet hotheaded Sohaib Akthar. In a tournament where the batsmen
have dominated for such long periods of time. Sohaib has held the city of Kolkata
gripped with joy and they will be hoping for another spell of searing pace and
anger from the Pakistani champion. Sohaib was in smashing form when Kolkata
ripped out a Delhi Daredevils line up that was looking strong and promising
for just a mere 104 and he will be hoping for a similar performance this time
around. Other achievers include the much neglected Laxmi Ratan Shukla who has
been brilliant with both the bat and ball throughout the tournament and lends
immense solidity to the outfit and he will be kept busy when Chennai Superkings
come out with all their might against Kolkata Knightriders this coming Sunday.
Chennai Superkings saw all their good work in their previous few matches crash
down when they lost out to an impressive Mumbai Indians outfit in their previous
IPL clash. In a match dominated by some stunning hitting by Sri Lankan cricket
idol Sanath Jayasurya, Chennai Superkings came out crops and much improvement
is needed in all departments if they are to book a semifinal place. While they
have won matches in the past week or so, it remains an undeniable fact that
the batting has suffered immensely following the departure of Matthew Hayden
and Mike Hussey. Ex- captain Stephen Fleming still needs to get accomitised
with the environment around and the absence of burly all rounder Jacob Oram
is being felt by the Chennai side. However, with the likes of Mahendra
Singh Dhoni the highest paid player in the IPL tournament and Suresh Raina still
in the side, there is hope for success for the Chennai Superkings and they will
be going hell for leather when they come up against the Kolkata Knightriders
this coming Sunday 18th of May 2008 at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
