line up of Akthar, Ishant Sharma, Murli Karthik and Ajit Agarkar they are stronger
than most international sides around and they will be eager to prove their worth
with a crunching win over beleaguered Delhi
After starting on such a rampaging note, Delhi have lost their way in the past
few matches and are staring down the barrel. Their loss to Rajasthan Royals
last Sunday mean sthat they have now lost their last three matches in a row
and hope seems to be dwindling for the Delhi Daredevils. Delhi are now level
on points with the Knightriders with eight points and are sorely missing the
guile and spin of New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori. The absence of
a fifth bowler has hurt them sorely as demonstrated by their last ball loss
to Chennai four days ago. However, they still possess a strong spine in the
form of Glenn McGrath and Mohammad Asif and much of their success will depend
on their performances in the opening part of both their time with the bat and
the ball. Delhi have a fearsome top order in the form of Virender Sehwag, Gautam
Gambhir and Ab De Villiers and as Maharoof demonstrated by his brutal hitting
of Shane Warne, they do posses quality in the lower order too. A defeat here
will require them to play out of their skins in their remaining matches to win
the tournament and that would be a good enough incentive for Delhi Daredevils
to buck up and play to their best when they come up against an inform Kolkata
Knightriders at the massive Eden Gardens this coming Tuesday.
