 With last few handful matches to be played in the group round of the Indian Premier League, the action gets intense as Chennai Super Kings face Kings XI Punjab in an ultimate crunch contest that will have a major impact on the fate of both sides.
Kings XI Punjab have only one hope of reaching the playoffs - by winning both
their remaining matches. A defeat will draw the curtain on their season and
they are faced up with stiff challenge from Chennai on Thursday. For their opponents,
the two-time defending champions, Chennai Super Kings, it is their last
league match and a defeat will leave them precariously at the mercy of other
teams' results. A win too will not guarantee a spot but will make it very difficult
to be eliminated.

Kings XI Punjab lost their last match to Delhi Daredevils by five wickets.
It was their batting that presented a sorry tale as only captain David Hussey
put up any fight with an unbeaten 40. Shaun Marsh has faded away off
late and his form will be critical to the team's chances up the order. The bowlers
also need to have a rethink after Parvinder Awana was taken for runs in his
final overs after three tidy overs. Azhar Mahmood is another impact player who
did well against Super Kings last time.
For the Chennai Super Kings, their victory over Kolkata Knight Riders was much
needed with Michael Hussey scoring a valuable half-century. Dwayne Bravo and Albie Morkel will be crucial to the team's chances as MS Dhoni,
the captain, contemplates the options he has to get the team combination right.
Ben Hilfenhaus has had slight ups and downs but is likely to retain his spot.
The match will be played at Dharamsala starting ay 4.00pm. In their earlier fixture,
Kings XI edged out Chennai by seven runs.
