 As the last weekend of league matches approaches in the fifth season of the Indian Premier League, the teams are battling it out for honors to reach the playoffs
in order to be eligible to play next weekend. Delhi Daredevils will take
on Kings XI Punjab in the first of the two matches to be played on Saturday.
The two teams have the equation made simple for them, though with contrasting
expectations. Delhi Daredevils are already through to the playoffs and decided
to test their bench strength in the last match. Kings XI Punjab, on the
other hand, know they have to win the match to keep their hopes alive.

Delhi Daredevils lost their last match to Royal Challengers Bangalore on Thursday
night. They rested captain Virender Sehwag and season's joint-highest wicket-taker
Morne Morkel. Yet the team responded well to chasing down a daunting
216-run target. The management will be pleased by the performance of Ross Taylor
who finally struck form and belted 55 off just 26 balls. With Mahela Jayawardene
looking to strike form, the last league match serves as a perfect option to
test around different combinations. The bowlers overall will be hoping for a
better show than their disastrous performance in the last match.
Kings XI Punjab notched up a crucial win against Chennai Super Kings on Thursday
to take them to 16 points. They will be confident of doing well with captain
Adam Gilchrist back in the side after missing a good part of the season
through a hamstring injury. David Hussey will hold the key being the
consistent player so far while Azhar Mahmood's experience remains valuable as
ever. Parvinder Awana has been a reliable performer with the ball as well having
picked up 16 wickets this season.
Kings XI lost their last match to Delhi Daredevils but will be seeking a different
result when they clash in Dharamsala.
