Mumbai Indians will play the Chennai Super Kings in the 21st match of the third
edition of the Indian Premier League. The Mumbai Indians have won three out of
the four games that they have played, whereas Chennai has played five games and
won only two. Mumbai is currently at the second place in the points table, whereas
Chennai is languishing in the bottom four.
Mumbai Indians have been the form team of the tournament along with the Royal
Challengers Bangalore and have been performing like true champions. Much of
this has to do with the fact that their captain and main batsman, Sachin Tendulkar has been in the form of his life. Tendulkar has had three good
innings and that has essentially provided three good starts to the side, which
has in turn, resulted in three wins for the Mumbai team. In the only game he
failed was against the Bangalore team and the opposition went on to easily win
the game.

The others have also been around and doing reasonably well for the Mumbai Indians. However, the worry would be with the batting form of the two West
Indian players, Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard, both of whom
have yet to get their bearing right. This will mean that if the likes of Tendulkar
and Saurabh Tiwary - the other in-form batsman for the Mumbai Indians - do get
out a tad earlier in the game, then the batting could struggle with the burden
of not having too many runs and the lack of form of these two guys.
Chennai, on the other hand, have had a surprising couple of games. After beating
Delhi without the presence of MS Dhoni in the side, they have crashed to defeats
to Punjab and Bangalore. The Punjab game was theirs to be taken, but the side
just collapsed while staring a win in their face, whereas they were simply outplayed
by the red-hot Bangalore team.
This will mean that they will need much more than a comeback. For starters,
they will need a presence of MS Dhoni in their side. It is said that Dhoni should
be fit enough to play in the game against Mumbai, and that will be a huge plus
for the Chennai Super Kings. Not only will the captaincy be in better
hands, but Dhoni will add that vital balance to the batting in the middle order.
Then, they also need to bowl much better in the death overs. Otherwise, another
huge total could be what they would chase!
