The teams that kickstarted action in the this year's Indian Premier League
will come head to head for the third time this season, with the added pressure
that it's a do-or-die situation for both sides. Mumbai Indians face Chennai
Super Kings on Wednesday in Bangalore.
Chennai Indians were lucky to reach the final four despite looking quite likely
to be upstaged by one of the teams below them on the points table. Overall,
Chennai have not played outstanding cricket with their performance being hugely
variable. The team has found itself in some tight finishes, more ending in a
losing cause than a winning one. In the crunch encounter, they will be hoping
their big guns fire as they aim to march towards a third consecutive title.
The bowling has been a sign of worry with Ravindra Jadeja and Dwayne
Bravo being their unlikely highest-wicket takers with 11 wickets each. With
the bat, no batsmen has reached 400 runs this season and plenty will depend
on Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni to come good.

For Mumbai Indians, their campaign was slightly rocky in the middle but they
did well enough to qualify comfortably. The team has gelled together well and
some key performers have led the way. Lasith Malinga is going to be their
trump card after picking up 22 wickets in the league matches. With the bat,
collective contributions have come and Rohit Sharma leads the runs tally
with 419 runs. Kieron Pollard has not met the high expectations associated with
him but remains a huge threat to the opposition should he fire on the day. Overall,
captain Harbhajan Singh has plenty of options and variety at his disposal that
he would want to make the most of.
Mumbai Indians will start the match as slight favorites knowing that they have
won both their earlier meetings against Chennai Super Kings this season.
The match will start at 8.00pm.
