It will be a clash of epic proportions when the two major bustling
hotbeds of Indian metropolis Mumbai and Delhi go ahead in Mumbai this coming
Sunday 4th of May 2008 in the Indian Premier League. Both these sides
are on opposite sides of the table and tensions will be running high when Mumbai
Indians square up against Delhi Daredevils this coming Sunday.

Despite being the costliest franchise this tourney, Mumbai
have failed to live up to all expectations and are struggling at the bottom
of the eight team table. The Reliance owned outfit hasn't been helped by the
controversy attached due to the dismissal of Harbhajan Singh. The Punjab off
spinner was kicked out of the reminder of the IPL when he was found guilty
of slapping fellow teammate Sreesanth and this could prove costly to the Mumbai
outfit in the long run. Mumbai are also missing lynchpin Sachin Tendulkar although
preliminary reports suggest that the master batsman could be in line for a return
to action this weekend. However, Mumbai did put off all their disappointments
last time around against Kolkotta Night riders when they rode on the back of
a fine all round performance by Dwayne Bravo to register a thumping six wicket
victory. Bravo starred both with the bat and ball and helped his team to their
maiden victory in the competition. Mumbai however are in dire straits having
won out of their five matches thus yet and anything but a victory will be considered
a major disappointment for the outfit from India's biggest city.
Delhi on the other hand, have been mightily impressive so far
and come into this clash on the top of the IPL charts. The Delhi Daredevils
outfit comprises of a mixture of raw buccaneering talent with some stable experienced
campaigners and they will be eyeing for a strong performance this time around.
Last time around, Virender Sehwag was at his belligerent best when he tonked
the Chennai attack all over the place en route to a fabulous 71. Sehwag and
Gautam Gambhir have proved to be strong allies all throughout the tourney and
much of Delhi's fortunes will depend on the performance of their top two. The
side from the capital are well endowed in their bowling department as well with
the likes of Glenn McGrath and Mohammad Asif successful in restricting
most teams to small totals. Delhi have lost just a solitary match all summer
and after seeing off the likes of Bangalore Royal Challengers and Chennai
Superkings at one go, the Daredevils will be itching to fire on all cylinders
against Mumbai this coming weekend at the Dr. Patil Stadium in Mumbai.
