It will be the battle of the two most in-form outfits when
Mumbai Indians come up against the Kings XI Punjab cricket team
at the Wankhade Stadium in Mumbai this coming Wednesday. Both these sides
have been in sublime form over the past two weeks and victory for either side
will see them cement their places in the semifinals of the Indian Premier League.

Mumbai Indians have spurted a remarkable recovery after looking totally out
of sorts in their opening few matches. With Harbhajan Singh being banned and
Tendulkar's recovery looking ages away, Mumbai looked consigned to relegation.
However, a brilliant comeback led by the likes of Bravo and Pollock have put
them back at the top and a series of six straight wins in a row now sees them
in the fourth place in the table. The Indians come into this clash on the back
of trashing victories over Chennai Superkings, Kolkata Knightriders and the
Deccan Chargers. All these victories were by a huge margin and that has spurred
them net run rate massively. Another big plus for the Mumbai Indians will be
the brilliant form of Sanath Jayasurya who has come to terms with 20-20 cricket.
The Sri Lankan who at 38 is the oldest around has been in murderous form of
late and he will be eager to launch himself against the finest bowling pair
in the tournament. Dwayne Bravo will be out for this clash as he took wings
after the previous match in response to his selection for the West Indies side.
Replacing him will be Andre Nel and the South African will be hoping to wreck
apart Kings XI Punjab in Mumbai this Wednesday.
Kings XI Punjab have been in golden touch since losing their first two matches
and have won seven of their last matches on the go. The Punjab based outfit
have been in sensational form and much of it has to be attributed to a sublime
opening bowling pair of Sreesanth and Irfan Pathan. The Indian pace duo have
picked up twenty-six wickets between themselves and look devastating to say
the least. With the likes of Piyush Chawla and VRV Singh supporting them, they
are not short of options either in the bowling department. With Kumara Sangakkara
back to full fitness, the batting line up looks sensational with the likes of
Shawn Marsh, Yuvraj Singh, Irfan Pathan and Mahela Jayawardena all being established
stroke players. Kings XI Punjab have won seven of their ten matches so far and
will be looking for a win that will all but secure a place in the semifinals
of the inaugural IPL.
