Two of the better-placed sides will be in action on Wednesday when Mumbai Indians
take on Kolkata Knight Riders. Both teams have two matches to play and
are currently in good shape to qualify for the playoffs.
Kolkata Knight Riders stuttered to a last-ball defeat in their last match against
Chennai Super Kings on Monday. That defeat has now left them on 17 points, within
an eyeing distance of the teams behind them.

After a strong patch, they seem to have lost their way a little. Gautam Gambhir, the captain, will be hoping his batsmen take a cue from him following
his fluent half-century. Brendon McCullum also looked good but the middle order
gave in to leave them with a lower total. The bowlers fought hard but struggled
to pick up wickets. Sunil Narine will yet again be the key being one
of the leading wicket-takers this season.
Mumbai Indians forced themselves into second place with a marvelous win against
Royal Challengers Bangalore on Monday. Chasing a daunting 172-run target, they
slipped to 4-44 before Ambati Rayudu and Kieron Pollard joined
hands to put together a match-winning partnership.
Rayudu scored 81 off 54 while Pollard struck 52 off 31 balls in a thrilling display
of batting. Mumbai Indians have 18 points and a win will see them seal their spot
in the playoffs. For the purpose, they will hugely depend on Pollard besides the
other star players in their team including Lasith Malinga.
Munaf Patel was expensive in the previous match and would like to make amends
as Harbhajan Singh expects better results from the players overall.
The last time these two sides met, Rohit Sharma scored a sparkling century
to propel Mumbai to a 27-run win. The upcoming match will be played in Mumbai,
starting at 8.00pm local time.
