New Zealand will be looking to mount yet another victory over
England to take a majestic 2-0 lead in the five match New Zealand
England one day series when they face up to a beleaguered England cricket team
this Tuesday in Hamilton. New Zealand defied the formbooks enroute to an amazing
six wicket victory over England in the first one dayer and this should give
the young Kiwi setup confidence before this crunch clash.

New Zealand arrived at the scene in Wellington with confidence low and heads
dropping down after two demoralizing defeats in the 20-20 matches in the lead
up to this clash. However, in a stunning turn of events, it was England who
faced up to the music in the first one dayer as a weakened Kiwi attack shot
down for a meager 130. The Kiwi bowling attack was incisive and accurate and
was aided by the weather conditions in windy Wellington. Nevertheless, it was
a commendable performance by the young Kiwi line up sans Shane Bond as they
got all their basics rights and their fielding didn't let them down as they
inflicted as many as three run outs. In the end, New Zealand emerged as comfortable
victors by six wickets with over twenty overs to spare and this should give
a young New Zealand side who haven't been seeing much success over the past
four months a lot of confidence going into this clash with England.
England had only themselves to blame after an inexplicable
collapse saw them bowled out for a partly score. Some miserable running between
the wickets didn't help their cause and as many as three run outs during the
innings hampered their cause greatly. Only Phil Mustard emerged with some sort
of dignity after the match but even he struggled under seaming conditions to
make a battling thirty before he was knocked over by Scott Styris. England's
batting did leave a lot to be desired on the application part of their game
and Captain Paul Collingwood would be despaired over the inability to switch
back to one day mode after their test triumphs. England will however take heart
from their success in Sri Lanka where they fought back from going 1-0 down in
similar fashion to wrap up the series 3-2 and with a similar side against a
much weaker opposition , there is every chance of a possible comeback when the
face new Zealand this upcoming Tuesday 12th of February in Hamilton.
