New Zealand will be hoping to wrap up the five match One
day series against England with a thumping victory in Hamilton this upcoming
Thursday to take an unassailable 3-0 lead in the series. New Zealand have belied
all the form books to produce two marvelous performances to go 2-0 up in the
series and with England reeling due to injuries and bad form, it would take
something special from Paul Collingwood and his men to help England come
back into this series.

New Zealand followed their five wicket victory in the first
match with a crushing ten wicket one in the second. In a thoroughly one sided
match shortened to thirty six overs due to rain, New Zealand had England
tied to the ropes throughout and then wrapped up the job in spectacular fashion
cutting down England's score of 165 is jut under eighteen overs with all wickets
intact. Brendon Mccullum was the star of the New Zealand performances as he
followed his stunning one handed catch with yet another blistering innings that
places him right on top of the long line of keepers waiting to take over Adam
Gilchrist as the top wicketkeeper batsman around. Despite losing Daniel Vettori
and Shane Bond due to injuries and ill fraction the New Zealand
bowling attack has been nothing short of brilliant and they will be hoping to
continue their recent run of success with yet another fine bowling performance
against England this weekend.
England have been dismal in the past two one dayers after some
promising performances in the follow up twenty twenty matches and Paul Collingwood
needs to pick his troops up if they are to avoid a humiliating rout. Despite
having a better side on paper, the English line up has failed miserably on all
fronts this series and the lack of application and will by the top orders would
have troubled skipper Paul Collingwood immensely. Ravi Bopara who looked hopelessly
out of touch in the first two matches is expected to make way for 20-20 hero
Dimitri Mascarenhas and Paul Collingwood would be hoping that the burly all
rounder can add some much needed stability and cool headedness to this England
side which has suffered as many as six run outs in their two matches so far.
Despite being 2-0 down, the English camp would know that the series is still
within their grasp and they will be hoping to reduce the deficit with a win
over England this midweek 15th of February 2008 in Hamilton.
