England will be hoping to bounce straight back when they take
on New Zealand in the second test match of the three match New Zealand
England test series in Wellington this coming Thursday. England were consigned
to one of their biggest defeats in recent times against New Zealand last time
around and will be hoping for a much more resolute performance against an inform
New Zealand outfit this time around.
England were shocked by New Zealand last time around in what has to be undeniably
one of the poorest English performances in recent years. England were found
lacking under some intense bowling by the New Zealanders and their capitulation
for just 110 runs in the second innings will leave vulnerable to a lot of critics
in the times to come. The result has draw baptism from all angles and the likes
of Matthew Hoggard and Steve Harmison have been dropped from the New Zealand
bowling line up as a consequence. England will however, be inspired by the fine
hat trick by seamer Ryan Sidebottom last time around who along with Ian Bell
was one of the few positives to emerge from the debacle in Hamilton. England
have recalled James Anderson and Stuart Board for this clash and will be hoping
that they can help England secure a series leveling win in Wellington.
New Zealand on the other hand will be buoyed by their success against England
last time around. Stephen Fleming was the star with the bat along with centurion
Matthew Sinclair and after a dismal tour of South Africa, things certainly look
on the up for the New Zealand outfit. Kyle Mills was the star show in their
previous innings when he ripped apart the English batting line up with a magical
spell of fast bowling and much will be expected from him on a green top in Wellington
this time around. Mark Gillespie is expected to come into the side in the place
of second spinner Jeetan Patel in what are expected to be seamer friendly conditions.
Skipper Daniel Vettori was commended for his bold declaration last time around
and with England having their backs against the wall, he will be hoping to wrap
up the second test match in Wellington starting this Thursday 13th March 2008.
