Pakistan will be hoping to register a strong victory over Bangladesh that
would all but secure them a place in the finals of the 2008 Asia Cup. Pakistan
has been among the most competitive sides in recent years and based on their strong
performance against India last time around, Pakistan are ready to complete a stunning
coup and secure a final date with Sri Lanka.

Pakistan batted out of their skins last time around against India to secure
a massive eight wicket victory. Chasing 308, Pakistan never really looked in
trouble and in the end; the chase was a rather comfortable one as India
were downed for the second time in a fortnight by Pakistan. Younis Khan
in particular has been impressive in recent times and his century coupled with
half centuries by Misbah Ul Haq and Jamshed helped Pakistan to an easy
victory. Despite the absence of skipper Sohaib Malik, the Pakistani batting
line up looks a strong fit and they will be hoping that new comer Nasser jamshed
can continue his fine performance in the international level. The bowling however,
is a topic of concern with Sohail Tanvir come up short under the face of some
strong attacking batting. Despite taking a fiver against Sri Lanka, the lanky
left-armer has been going for over six runs an over and he will be hoping that
he can finally match up his Asia Cup form with his IPL form and guide
Pakistan to a final place in the Asia Cup.
Bangladesh on the other hand, have had absolutely no mileage from this tournament
so far and despite an opening day victory against UAE, they have been
outclassed by the likes of India and Sri Lanka so far. After a competitive
performance against India three days ago, the Bangladeshi outfit slipped up
last time around against Sri Lanka only to be spanked for a heavy defeat. The
bowling in particular looks to be the weak link for team Bangladesh as they
have conceded a lot of runs in the tourney. Last time around, it was Sanath
Jayasurya and Kumara Sangakkara who did the damage and the men from Dhaka
would do good to avoid any further calamities when they face up to a strong
Pakistan cricket outfit this coming Friday 4th July 2008 in Karachi Pakistan.
