The first test match of three match test series between Pakistan and Sri
Lanka will be played in October 18 at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi at 6:00
GMT. This encounter is expected to be a very good encounter as both teams are
away from their home, so none of them will get the home advantage.
Pakistan is fairly a new side. With this new side they recently thrashed Zimbabwe.
They have brought two openers Imran Farhat and Asad Shafiq for the test
series. Among these two, Imran Farhat has a good proven batting temperament
which suits test match perfectly. Undoubtedly, Younis Khan is their best
batsman and pillar of the batting line-up. With him skipper Misbah ul Haq and
Shoaib Malik who has been brought after a long time in the Zimbabwe series will
be the key players for Pakistan. When it comes to bowling, Pakistan have bowlers
like Umar Gul who has both speed and swing. He will be accompanied by another
pace bowler Wahab Riaz, and their spin attack will be lead by none other than
Saeed Ajmal.

Sri Lankan side will be lead by hard hitter batsman Tillakaratne Dilshan, who
has not change his attacking batting style even in the test cricket; this might
make a difference between these two sides. In the middle order, their two batting
pillars would be Mahela Jayawardene and Wicket Keeper Kumar Sangakara.
Chanaka Welegedara will get the new ball and they will be missing youngster
Shaminda Eranga who will be replaced by all rounder Kulasekara. Their spin attack
will be dependent on Suraj Randiv and Rangana Herath. Skipper Dilshan
said that they would be looking to their fast blowers to get good result as
they now do not have their great bowler Muralitharan who had the ability to
take six wickets in an innings.
Last eleven test matches of Sri Lanka were fruitless, they lost two
and rest of the nine matches were draw, so they will be desperate to get a win
against the new Pakistan team. On the other hand, Pakistan may look like a young
team, but they have some senior players. With the perfect combination of youth
and experience, they are obviously a very strong side to beat.
