The
fifth and the final ODI of the five-match series between West Indies and Pakistan
will be played at the Providence in Guyana. The match will be played on May 5
and will be a day game.
Pakistan have already won the ODI series but they will go into the game with
a loss to their name in the previous game. They lead the series 3-1 and that
will mean that they will need to look to make four games won in the series before
they go into the Test series. West Indies lost three in a row before
a rain-hit game was won by them.

Pakistan, to be fair to them, were a bit unlucky to have lost the previous
game. They were looking good in the rain-affected game and should have gone
on to clinch the game had the game lasted the full distance. Unfortunately,
when it started raining, the West Indian side was ahead by one run and went
on to win the game because the rain did not stop. Of course, there was a bit
of a consolation for the Pakistani side, as Mohammad Hafeez went on to
win a man of the match award in the game.
Hafeez was simply amazing with both, the bat and the ball in the game and there
was no taking that award from him. He went on to score his second century of
the format and the second one of the year as well before returning to bowl six
overs for 26 and picking up a wicket. Had it been for some support from the
pace bowlers, things could have been different for the Pakistani side. It was
only some excellent batting from the top West Indian order and a late six by Dwayne Bravo that sealed the game for the home team.
Speaking of the West Indian batting, Lendl Simmons was the star of the show,
as he has been throughout the series. He opened the innings with Kirk Edwards
in place of Devon Smith and then was involved in a good, half-century
stand with R Sarwan. If he can continue to get the runs in the manner that he
has in the tournament so far, things will look much easier for the home team.
The bowling continues to be supported well by Ravi Rampaul but the biggest
improvement of the year is Devendra Bishoo.
